Maninplace has been responding and supporting people who present as homeless or rough living in Telford for over 13 years. Our staffing team is committed to providing a safe environment that enables customers to develop their confidence, self-esteem and reach their full potential. As an “Accommodation Sustainment Worker” you will be part of a the dedicated “Positive Engagement Service” offering a bespoke service to individuals whose lives have been impacted by past traumas, resulting in ill mental health, substance misuse and poor general wellbeing.

The successful candidate will be flexible, highly motivated and able to turn their hand to all aspects of the role, all while bringing a strong contribution to the organisation. Every aspect of the role will maintain a person-centred approach that supports all customers. Your tenacious and resilient nature will ensure every task is completed to a high standard and will promote the wellbeing and confidence of customers accommodated within Positive Engagement Project.

Hours of Work:

36 hours average per week, working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.
4 days of 6am - 4.30pm followed by 4 days off
4 days of 1.30pm - 12am followed by 4 days off

Salary & Benefits:

£9.19 per hour (£17,203 annual salary).
Fixed-term contract for 12-months. Contract extension is dependant upon the securing of future funding streams.
Annual leave entitlement.
Access to the work-based pension scheme with company contributions made after successful 3-month probationary period.
Mileage allowance of 35p per mile (up to 45p per mile can be reclaimed through HRMC tax relief at the end of each financial year, where eligible).

Qualifications & Experience:

Qualifications at level GCSE or above in English, Maths. Experience in housing/supported housing or homelessness provision would be advantageous. Full UK driving licence and use of own vehicle is preferred. You may be required to add business use cover to your insurance policy (policy & insurance company dependant). Enhanced DBS Certificate is required for all applicants.

Abilities required:

  1. Demonstrate the ability to work calmly and professionally when under pressure.
  2. Be motivated and of a confident nature.
  3. Be very flexible in your work approach and your availability.
  4. Be able to manage your own workload with flexibility and efficiency.
  5. Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  6. Have basic DIY skills, i.e. preparation and painting abilities, and be able to construct flat packed furniture.
  7. Relate well to all sections of the community and be non-judgmental.
  8. Have an ability to approach things with a positive outlook. The objective is to find solutions, not to emphasis negatives.
  9. Have an ability to de-escalate potential disruptive situations, arguments or anti-social behaviour.
  10. Be confident in giving an initial response to people who are experiencing a mental health crisis, while more appropriate services are sought.
  11. Be educated to GCSE Level standard.
  12. Be highly confident as a lone worker.
  13. Be Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Office software and good email communications skills.
  14. Have an ability to motivate others and negotiate positive outcomes when challenges arise.
