The Bleak Mid-Winter Programme (BMW) is a three month project that operates during the months of December to February.
The purpose of the project is to provide emergency and short term accommodation for people that are living rough in the Telford & Wrekin area during the coldest months of the year.
The Project is Telford’s response to the government's requirements for Severe Weather Emergency Provision (SWEP). We partner up with other local charities and organisations to provide a wide support network for those who are, or could be, living rough during winter, with the aim of encouraging them to come in from the cold and preventing serious ill health or death.
Whilst we recognise that some people do not wish to take up offers of accommodation and support for a variety of reasons, outreach workers will continue to make contact with known rough sleepers throughout the project to encourage them to come in from the cold, and to check on their health and wellbeing.
Throughout the time of Bleak Midwinter we do all we can to assist people by providing a safe and warm place to stay. Our team go the extra mile to help and support those most at risk during the cold winter months.
All of this is only possible thanks to the generosity of the general public and local businesses.
We also welcome donations of food, hygiene items, clothing and single bedding.
If you would like to make a donation of food, bedding, etc, please complete the contact form giving us details about your donation, or call our offices: 01952 248248. Mark your message with the subject: “BMW Donation”.
We will contact you to give details of when and where you can take your donation. If you are unable to deliver your donations, please tell us and we may be able to collect your items (please note: this is not guaranteed).
