Homelessness Mental Health Worker - job description

This is a new service aimed at providing a legacy that will work to unravel the extent of mental health related issues within the homelessness services across the Borough. The successful candidate will explore and work to address the things that prevent individuals from living a healthy life. Promote a strength based approach to Mental Health that unlocks each individuals full potential.

Situated in Shropshire the area has plenty of green spaces, excellent facilities and easy access to the national motorway M54, M6, the rail networks, facilitating superb transport links to Telford.  

Telford & Wrekin provide all local Government services for a rapidly growing population of over 166,641,  looking after education, environment, social care, housing, planning, business and much more.

Our organisation

Thrive are managing the funding and Maninplace is the contractor, delivering the service across several expressions of work and partnerships.

Telford & Wrekin the funder is a unitary authority, made up of the towns of Telford and the Wrekin the more rural areas. Telford consist of several district made up of the traditional market towns such as Wellington, Oakengates, Madeley, Dawley, Hadley with the new town districts of Sutton Hill, Woodside, Brookside Stirchley and Lawley.


The successful candidate will be flexible, self-motivated and able to demonstrate an ability to competently coordinate effectively across multiple agencies. Also bring a strong contribution that will transform the lives of those accessing accommodation, reducing homelessness, rough sleeping and re-offending.  

Every aspect of the role will maintain a person centred approach that supports and coaches all accessing this service. Your tenacious and resilient nature will ensure every task is completed to a high standard, and will promote the well-being and confidence of partners and those resettling.  

Hours of work

The role will consist of a minimum 35 hours per week, working flexibly and could include a weekend day.


Annual salary is £19,182.80 – £ 26,830 Negotiable dependant on experience & qualifications.

Qualifications & experience

Experience in a wide range of relevant service area, experience in this post is crucial, Qualifications at level GCSE C or above in English, Maths and ICT, NVQ3 or BTEC in Health and Social Care or equivalent.

Current Driving Licence – Access to vehicle

Based at Maninplace Accommodation Hub 32-36 New Street, Wellington, Telford TF1 1NE  Working at locations throughout the borough of Telford and Wrekin and Shropshire
