Our Covid-19 response - updated June 2022

Covid-19 has impacted all sections of society and poses a very serious threat to the most vulnerable of our local communities. During these times it is important for everyone to play their part to help save lives and protect the NHS.

KiP & Maninplace are committed to supporting those who experience homelessness or rough living across the borough of Telford and Wrekin, and will work round the clock alongside our partners at Telford & Wrekin Council, Stay-Telford and Wellington YMCA to help reduce the risk of Coronavirus affecting those on the streets or about to become homeless.

Our service & protection measures

For the protection of our customers and dedicated team members, it has been necessary to implement changes to the way in which we make our face to face service available.

The KiP team continue to provide support Monday to Friday, 9am - 4pm and can be reached by calling 01952 248248, “option 1” during these hours.

Face to face appointments are available once again in KiP, however, the number of visitors in the building will be restricted to ensure ample social distancing.

All persons entering the building will be asked to wear a face covering during their visit if they have recently experienced symptoms and will be required to use hand sanitiser upon entry. Anyone having an appointment within KiP will also be asked to sit behind a plastic screen in a well ventilated space for additional protection for all.

Counselling rooms and communal areas will be sanitised by a team member after every customer has left the KiP centre.

Out of hours calls will continue to be answered by our Homelessness Services team, 7 days a week; they will liaise with our local partners to ensure anyone at risk of rough sleeping is offered accommodated and protected where possible from the risks of COVID-19.

Additional measures have been implemented at our emergency accommodation to protect customers and staff on site. All professional service visitors will be required to make an appointment with our team and will be required to use hand sanitiser upon arrival and maybe requested to wear face coverings throughout their visit if applicable. Track and trace contact details will also be required for any professional visiting the premises.

We regularly review these protection measures and use current government, NHS, Public Health England and Local Authority guidance when making our decisions.

How you can help

We have been asked how the public can assist during these challenging times, so here are some ways in which you can support us.

Food:
We are accepting food donations which will be used to support those who are struggling financially, or maybe in isolation and without a support network. Storage space is limited, particularly for perishable items, so we would ask that your donations are non-perishable. Your donations can include treats such as chocolates or sweets, which will bring a little extra joy for those who are finding isolation a difficult experience, but please, no alcohol.

Food items can be dropped at our KiP offices in Wellington, Mon-Fri, 9-4:30.

Bedding

All customers accommodated at our emergency accommodation are supplied with a brand new single duvet, pillow, fitted sheet, duvet cover and pillow case. We will always welcome donations of these items but do ask that they are new and in their sealed bags please. New items not only make it easier for us to store, but they also offer a big boost to the self-esteem of our customers, particularly those who have lost all their personal belongings.

New bedding items can be dropped at our KiP offices in Wellington, Mon-Fri, 9-4:30.

Financial support:
Your financial generosity will help us continue to offer extra support to people who are at greater risk from the effects of Covid-19. If you wish to pledge a financial gift, please click the “Make a donation” button on our Home page.

Let us know about rough sleepers:
If you see someone sleeping rough, please call us on 01952 248248 and give as much detail as possible to our responding team member. We will liaise with outreach workers to ensure contact is made and support is put in place where possible and accepted.

Thank you for your support during these challenging times.
