Experience of working with Homelessness, Housing/Accommodation, Social Care setting or customer facing environment


Have an understanding of what preventative support is.


Have a qualification in support services, health and social care or related relevant experience. providing advice and guidance


Demonstrate effective communication skills.


Demonstrate a clear understanding of the issues facing those who are homeless and their non-statutory status.


Have a good knowledge of issues surrounding drug and alcohol addiction


Demonstrate relevant knowledge of the criminal justice system and drivers that impact on offending behaviour.


Demonstrate relevant knowledge of Mental Health issues and the impact on individual’s ability to make positive decisions.


Have a good knowledge of the benefits system


Demonstrate relevant knowledge on the social impact of legal migrant’s status and the issues faced.


Demonstrate knowledge of working with vulnerability, disability, cultural sensitivity and equal opportunities.


Have knowledge of local choice-based lettings.


To work effectively within the immediate and wider staff team.


Demonstrate ability to use word processing, spreadsheets, databases, & report writing.


Demonstrate ability to work flexibly, independently, be self-motivated, non-judgementally and as a lone worker.


Identify a commitment to working with Maninplace policies and procedures.

KiP@Maninplace Homelessness Triage Worker
27.5 hrs per week  Ref: KTW27


Due to an increased demand on the KiP service, we are recruiting a self-motivated and positive individual to work on the frontline of our homelessness services, you will be the first face customers see as they enter the KiP@Maninplace front door.  You will provide a warm and friendly welcome that brings some reassurance and ease during a time of uncertainty and despair.   

Providing a first response to visitors and callers, you will play an integral part of ensuring this busy service operates efficiently and quickly, responding at the point of need and helping to reduce rough sleeping due to homelessness.

Hours of work

27.5 hours per week based on working shifts of 9:30-15:00 Mon - Fri

Salary & benefits

A fixed term 12-month contract with immediate start available.
£8.76 per hour with the addition of annual leave entitlement and work-based pension scheme.

Qualifications & experience

Qualifications in Maths and English at GCSE level, experience call handling, reception work or similar customer facing environments would be advantageous.

Location of work

Working at the KiP@Maninplace walk-in centre in Wellington, Telford.

Job summary

To provide a calm, friendly and positive welcome to all customers and visitors entering the building.  You will answer incoming telephone enquiries from customers and professionals contacting the service, assisting with the booking of appointments and giving out basic service information.  Where appropriate, you will identify the need to issue emergency food and hygiene packs to those currently rough living who present at the reception area, ensuring any further support needs are identified and fed through to the KiP@Maninplace support team.
